Opera browser is deepening its research on blockchain

Leading browser provider Opera announced its partnership with strategic blockchain advisory and financial services firm Ledger Capital in order to research blockchain technologies.

According to the official statement, Ledger Capital which is providing blockchain advisory services to a number of organizations, governmental and other enterprises, “will be advising  Opera on the process of exploring further applications and use-cases of the blockchain technology as well as growth opportunities that could be applied to Opera products”.

Touching upon partnership, Ding’an Fei, Managing Partner of Ledger Capital told:

“Opera has already taken the lead among the major browsers, with the integration of the innovative crypto wallet and investments from other leading crypto companies like Bitmain. We are looking forward to exploring the next steps in how Opera will leverage its massive ecosystem and technical competencies to create exponential value for its user base and the greater blockchain space”.

It’s worth mentioning that Opera is not a newcomer in the world of blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Notably, it was the first browser worldwide to add a built-in cryptocurrency wallet this July. The company, which has over 300 million users worldwide, outlines that “having a crypto wallet in the browser brings the cash experience to the world of online payments”.

“Paying with the crypto wallet is like sending digital cash straight from your phone, and we’ve just made it easier. This opens up new possibilities for merchants and content creators alike,” told Charles Hamel, Product Lead of Opera’s crypto wallet.

In addition, Opera recently listed on Nasdaq and received $50m investment from Bitmain.
